I am excited to announce that I am ready for the next healing phase. From the get-go I wanted Loud Mouth Brown Girl to inspire women – especially disabled, non-binary, women of color, – to believe that even during struggles with mental health you can build a meaningful life.

For six or seven years now I have been solely focused on my own mental health, and bringing to light what mental health looks like for people like me.

I am excited to announce that this year I will be hosting the first-ever Loud Mouth Brown Girl in-person event with Survivor’s Connection 3.

This year I’m inviting women from across the province to join me for a 3-hour self-defense class where women will bond with other women over shared and different experiences while expressing their frustration with the world’s ignorance of us.

We as women have used private gatherings to bond and to let loose for centuries, it is these moments when women gather that powerful things are possible.

When we are in the stages of grief, when we’re having a breakdown, when we fall down from the routines that keep us healthy, we often feel like failures, like all the good work that we’ve done is now irrelevant because we fucked up one time.

That’s never the case, but it feels that way. When we fall down sometimes we’re not strong enough to get back up on our own. We need a community to help us, but not everyone has that.

For a very long time, I was focused on my mental health and I was alone. Now I want to invite my communities to come together, learn some self-defense, and to bond over shared traumas or traumas we didn’t know existed.

For three hours the women of British Columbia are invited to gather, to laugh, cry, scream, and rejoice in the next phase of our healing journey.
