I grew up with kids making jokes like “I’m not racist, I have a colored tv.” And “Black isn’t a colour, it’s a shade, so you’re not a colour, you’re a shade.” I’m tired.
I thought when I left the church system, I was leaving white supremacy and all her ugly little cousins behind. But the more that I shared my story, the more that I talked about how most of (but not all) my abusers were white men (and not all cis), the more that I began to realize I am not alone.
There are other Black women in Canada who, as children, were molested, sexually assaulted, beaten, raped, tortured, and branded by white right-wing cultists who believe with their full chests that Black people must be punished for existing.
Charlie Kirk is not the problem. His death is not the solution. Death won’t stop white supremacy. I know that Oprah once said, “Kill them all,” in reference to white supremacists, but the problem is that when you kill anyone, people suddenly start feeling bad.
“Well, he was a good guy,” “He had his good points,” “Maybe that was too far.” Okay, so if murdering a white supremacists who want your ten-year-old to give birth to their rapist father’s baby, what’s the fucking solution?!
I don’t agree with assassination. I believe in (a) justice system, just not the one that we have. Systemically, the justice system that we have now predominantly protects white men and women who have committed crimes.
Not only are white people treated better, they are often investigated and charged at much lower rates than their Black, Brown, and Indigenous counterparts. Globally.
I am tired of being told shit like:
If we would have said that Joy Reid, Michelle Obama and Sheila Jackson Lee and Ketanji Brown Jackson were affirmative action picks, we would have been called racists. Now they’re coming out and they’re saying it for us … You do not have the brain processing power to otherwise be taken really seriously. You had to go steal a white person’s slot to go be taken somewhat seriously.– The Charlie Kirk Show, 13 July 2023
The answer is yes, the baby would be delivered.– Responding to a question about whether he would support his 10-year-old daughter aborting a pregnancy conceived because of rape on the debate show Surrounded, published on 8 September 2024
If you’d like to read the rest of his disgusting takes, you can do so on The Guardian, which provided the two I’ve used above.
Charlie Kirk was not someone I would identify or describe as a “Good, kind, caring man.” He was a husband, and good bad or ugly, he decided he was going to show the world the most selfish, abusive, and cruel takes. Whether you liked him or not, it’s not for us to debate whether or not he deserved to die.
That’s not my place. But I will be damned if I will mourn this man who wanted women like me to go back to the days of enslavement. Do you get that? Men like Charlie Kirk would have my ass in a bedroom somewhere, while they raped me for days on end until they were satisfied, purely because of the colour of my skin.
This is the man that so many of you white folks are humming and hawing about. “Oh, but he was a husband and a father.” So what?! He was a fucking Nazi, proud card-carrying Trump supporter, friends.
He fully supported every one of Trump’s gross, disgusting, child-abusive takes, with his full chest.
The world did not lose someone who looked around and said, “I want to help make it more fair.” He actively looked around and said, “I’m going to bully Black, Brown, and Indigenous people into believing they don’t deserve autonomy. And women don’t forget them.” In so many words, over a hundred times, this man got on his show and told the world he didn’t care about people who look like me and probably you.
I know that we have a lot of work to do, but I also know that as soon as people saw Charlie Kirk Die, many people decided to threaten three Historically Black Universities with gun and bomb violence, as if Black people are to blame. And now, the FBI is saying a 22-year-old white man did it.
But Black people are to blame.
I am tired of being kicked in the head by white supremacy, only to be told when the kicker is killed that it’s my job to feel sorry for the people who tortured me. No, the answer is unequivocally, absolutely the fuck not. I will not, I can’t, I fucking won’t.
I don’t believe in showing empathy to those who are making the world bleed. These are the same people who say that Palestine not only doesn’t have a right to exist, but doesn’t exist. The same folks are trying to rewrite history and make shit up as they go, just so they can say they did.
Their legacy isn’t built in love and making space. It’s built in destroying all the beautiful things that we have to cherish about this world. We’ve seen it a thousand times. In the 1970s, the FBI used COINTELPRO to convince Black activists to turn against their friends and family.
I fully believe that Charlie Kirk was killed by one of his own. A sacrificial lamb isn’t hard to find if you look close enough. All his death is going to do is tell white supremacists that they have “A right to defend their own.” And unfortunately for the rest of us, that means that there is going to be a lot more Black, Brown, and Indigenous death around the world as the universe tries to figure out a way to balance itself.
I didn’t write this post because I want you to feel better or worse about the death of Charlie Kirk. I wrote this post because I want you to think about the Black, Brown, and Indigenous people in America right now who are absolutely going to suffer at the hands of white supremacists who believe it’s their job to “Get one out for Charlie.”
These people are dangerous beyond all reason. They have guns en masse, and they don’t care who they hurt. They don’t care if you’re white, Black, Indigenous, or Disabled. They don’t care if you are a good person or a bad person; they were born to kill, and they want to go out with as many deaths to their name as possible.
Yet they’ll point to Muslim people and say, “That’s what a real terrorist looks like.”
The problems with white supremacy are many, but its major problem is that it lies. To you, me and everyone in between. White supremacy really believes it deserves to exist in a world with so much beautiful diversity.
White supremacists are all about control; the more power they have over you, the better, the harder it is to escape. It’s why so many of their men are so about having babies at any age. It’s not because they care about the children; it’s because they know the women will stay to protect the children.
I can’t, and I will never try to speak for anyone else. I am not “Glad” that Charlie Kirk is dead, but I am not going to laugh over the tears of white supremacists either. I don’t feel sorry for his wife, I don’t feel sorry for his kids. White supremacists marry white supremacists, and they have white supremacist kids.
That’s the cycle that they are continuously trying to perpetuate, and so when someone fights back and says “enough is enough,” I fully with my full chest, see the point.
During COVID, the Republicans made it possible for anyone who wanted one, to access AR-15s without the need of a background check.
Whelp. Here we are. This is the world they wanted, and this is the world they got. Their tears belong to them, never to me.
Sending all my love,
Devon J Hall, The Original Loud Mouth Brown Girl
