Seriously. Does talking about it online help? Does sharing the pictures of the war zone really have an effect on us? Is it powerful to talk about what’s going on in The Congo, in Palestine, in Syria?

Yes.

Yes.

Yes.

Every single word that we use to describe and explain the atrocities in the world matters, because we may just be the single person with just the right argument that changes the game, that alters the war, that saves the world for an innocent. So we can’t stop talking about it.

But it’s hard.

It’s difficult to see a man walking down the street one moment and then screaming the next because his leg has been blown off, but this war and we must bear witness.

It’s up to us in the free world to say when we see wrong happening in the world. And yes it has a cost.

Yes, it affects our mental health, yes it’s heartbreaking, and yes we spend more time crying than not, but we have to, we must, that’s the mission. We’re the ones that are getting better specifically so that we can make changes in the world that we know must be seen.

Must be heard.

No one said this was going to be easy. I never thought in a million years that I’d look at my teachers who were verified valuable Soldiers, and think “You might be the bad guy,” but when I look at what’s happening around the world it’s hard not to look at soldiers from the western world as the bad guy.

Every single day the people of Gaza tweet out “I am still alive | Gaza” so that those of us who are following them, know they made it through another night of bombings.

There are thousands of people trapped in schools, hospitals, and other places of refuge that should be safe. Meanwhile, the Israeli government has them surrounded by tanks, bombs, and guns.

They are outnumbered and Hamas is not fighting back, because they are not as equipped and prepared to fight back as we were told they were.

The war is unfair, it’s cruel, and it’s downright evil.

The President of Israel has broken the war time treaties so many times that I’ve lost count of how many war crimes Israel has committed.

Children who should be in the NICU are dying because they aren’t hooked up to the machines that can save their lives, because there is no electricity in the hospitals.

At what point do you put your Western needs aside and focus on the fact that there are people in this world that need your voice?!

I always wanted this to be the kind of website that teaches people how to speak up, and I don’t know that I’ve done that, because I’m seeing too many white women who say they follow me for healing, who promise I am a part of their healing journey, say nothing when it comes to saving the lives of Black, Brown, and Indigenous folk.

I’m seeing none of the over 700 Budsistas say anything but they blamed me for feeling left out of the equation when we talk about victims of abuse.

They didn’t want me around because my trauma was too great, but when their voices are needed the most, they are gone. I’m tired too.

I don’t want to talk about Palestine, but I have to because I have learned too often that when we don’t talk about abuse, trauma, PTSD, depression, about war, it keeps happening.

I deluded myself into believing that there was a time on this planet when we hadn’t been at war, but the truth is that we’ve always been at war, we just didn’t know it. While we were living our lives the enemy was preparing, and now they’re at our door, ready and willing to take us out because we don’t agree with genocide.

There are people out there saying that to fight against Israel is to hate all Jewish people, LIES I TELL YOU, they are lying, it’s not the same at all I don’t hate Jewish people, I hate genocide.

What if Joe Biden had taken a bomb to Detroit where some of the January 6th rioters had come from?! Do you see the equation now?

Do you understand what we mean? When we say this isn’t about religion, it’s not about right or wrong, it’s about oil, what we mean is that it’s about money.

It’s always been about money, it’ll always be about money.

The unrealized potential of Palestinian oil and gas reserves

This report was written in 2019, that tells me everything I need to know. This war was always going to happen, because the people of Israel want a Starbucks next to the ocean, while the people of Gaza just want to live.

Since 1947 the people of the Gaza strip have been terrorized on their own land, by outsiders who have decided the “land” that God set aside for them in the bible, is a real thing they can just up and steal.

The Holocaust happened.

The Nekab happened.

And it’s happening again.

These are three facts that all revolve around one truth: Your voice is needed more now than ever.

Sending all my love,

Devon J Hall

One response to “Does It Even Matter?”

  1. Every genocide boiled down to hidden oil money on the land. It’s disgusting that world leaders will always prioritize wealth over lives.
