Hi Friends,

Did you know that “No” is a full sentence? No.

I did, but I forgot that, and I’ve been utilizing the word no for a minute now. The reason I say this is because as I said yesterday, I said no eight years ago, to a bunch of shit, that would have completely changed my life today.

If I had said yes, every single person in the world would know who I was, and they would all know my story. And every single one of you would have had thoughts.

Instead, I said “No, thank you,” and here I am today,a humble Content Creator in the making.

It might sound strange to many of you, but I am one of the many, many, many, people who looked at Hollywood and everything she had to offer, and said “No, thank you.”

Which I believe, allowed me to keep my fucking soul. Especially given what is happening in that cesspool of drama today.

More and more of our “Hollywood heros” are becoming tainted goods, faster than you can say “He/she/they/them is a good person,” that exact person comes out as an abusive traitor.

Even the “kindest, sweetest, most giving away free shit,” television hosts in the world, are not immune to Hollywood’s ability to taint one’s soul.

Hollywood is the kind of place that promises you everything, and takes everything while giving you the ability to say “Everyone knows my name, but not one of these fuckers actually knows me.”

Every single person I know who lives in Hollywood is also seeing a therapist. They are also seeing a psychatrist, they are also seeking mental health professionals, psychics, and whoever the fuck else they can pay so they can figure out what the fuck their problem is.

The problem my friends in the happy shiny villiage, is that you have so much money you can and probably have done everything, and at the end of the day your only real purpose on this planet, is to be a dancing clown to distract the rest of us, who are doing very real work that is literally saving lives.

And by the rest of us, I mean:

  • The children of Congo, who are being used for colbalt mining.
  • The first responders of Palestine are doing the work to ensure the world does not turn a blind eye to what is happening around the world.
  • The advocacy groups that are based in small communities around the world are saving lives by actually being there on the ground, day in and day out, to feed, house, and clothe the most marginalized among us.

I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love a good cop show as much as the next schmuck, but that being said I don’t believe those stories are real. I watch the Rookie not because it gives me hope in cops, for fuck sakes as if. But because it allows me to believe in the multi-verse, which tells me there’s a whole world out there where cops really are the good guys, working with the community instead of against it.

That being said, I much prefer a good Vampire thriller, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t learn shit from the shows I watch.

I do appreciate Hollywood, I just acknowledge that it’s filled with bullshit, and that in order to get anywhere in that place, you need to eat copious amounts of bullshit.

No thanks.

Not for me.

I would rather be here, among my friends, and accomplices, who understand that given the chance I probably would punch a fucking nazi, if the circumstances meant that I might save a life.

I would be there with people fighting, or at the very least reporting on what’s happening so people in MY community can’t ever say “well I didn’t know better.”

Yes, you fucking did because Hollywood for all her faults, did the homework and produced the sylibus, the stories are all right there in your nearest library. On every imaginable kind of format, you can find stories that will tell you what kind of person the world needs you to be.

And if you’re lucky the people you admire won’t turn into total shitheads, they really will be good guys who sometimes make mistakes but mostly get it right.

I’m not saying “Follow my path and say no to Hollywood,” I’m saying either let the bitch burn, (because it’s hilarious watching abusers get their just deserts,), or alternatively, be a part of the change that returns the legacy of Hollywood to her former glory so we can stop thinking that every single one of you is a soul sucking vapid whore cunt who just loves to prey on the most innocent.

You can be a dancing clown.

Or you can be a dancing clown who takes off the mask to say “This is where I stand.” I think we’ve proven as a humble society, that the more of us that stand together, the harder it is for them to say no.

Many of you suffer from “Well I’m rich white and famous they won’t come for me,” syndrome. But just wait until one of you says no to an appearence with Donald Trump.

Just wait until fake ICE agents break into your home or business and take your family or your people hostage. You say it can’t happen to you because you have access to the latest technology.

I’d like to remind you that at it’s height of power Anonymous the collective was almost fifteen million strong, and that’s a conservative number. More than half those people were hackers, and every year they all stupidly gather with the FBI at DEF CON to study the deepest, darkest, most scary shit that you’ve never even heard of.

But go off about how your millions will protect you. I’ll remind you, you can’t take your money to Hell. So what you do here, what you say and what you don’t say, will have an effect.

To all the writers in Hollywood who begged for fan support during the strike, not once but three times in the last thirty years, and then received that fan support, but are currently remaining silent on Palestine, I will personally be waiting for you at the gates of Hell to welcome you home.

Sending all my love to Palestine, Congo, Haiti, the DRC, and anywhere there is Black, Brown, or Indigenous suffering,

Devon J Hall, The Original Loud Mouth Brown Girl
