When I first started my Facebook Community, the plan was to help Black, Brown, and Indigenous women learn branding skills so they could tell their stories and weaponize their experiences against those who hurt them.
However…that’s a very depressing mission. So I changed the name to Stay Lifted Sis because I realized that all the women coming to me for branding advice, were women who had experienced some kind of trauma and are now healing and sharing their stories.
I am very excited about this group because members of my own family have joined, and the women in the group are all super powerful amazing women from around the world who want to learn and teach each other to be better. Stronger, faster, smarter, that’s always the goal, right?
But what if the goal is to just…be?
What if the goal is to learn to stop being strong, and start being wise? What if the goal is to stop being wise, and to start just existing in your own skin, without hating everything about yourself?
That’s the purpose of this group. To lift up Black, Brown, and Biracial women, who are finding it difficult to navigate a world that is constantly telling them to fight, but rarely giving them the tools to do so.
I want this community to be filled with women who see the world differently than I do, but who also understand the basic need for human connection and kindness.
I am in the phase where Loud Mouth Brown Girl can’t be just about me anymore. It has to be about building community, not just so that I am not alone, but so that other Black, Brown, and Biracial girls aren’t alone either.
I believe in the power of community. I know that having those who look like you, who experience the world in similar ways as you do, can help you achieve great things and I want to help women find their greatness.
