@ 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM PDT

I am so excited about this one! I am hosting my first ever conversation about being a survivor and healing from mental health. This is a huge opportunity for me to share my story, but more than that, it’s a platform for other survivors to come forward and share their experience with Doctors and other medical professionals during their mental health journey.

Recently I spoke with my friend Wendy about the fact that in British Columbia it is so difficult to connect with other survivors and hear their stories. Part of this whole healing from mental health “thing”, is that so many of us feel alone and isolated.

When we go to Doctors and tell them about our memories they say stuff like “I believe YOU believe that it happened,” or they dismiss our claims of lost memories all together and tell us that we’re psychotic and that absolutely needs to end.

Too many people are misdiagnosed when it comes to their mental health issues because the Doctors that we’re working with just don’t have enough information in order to be able to offer qualified true honest opinions about what we’re going through.

For the first time in a long time I feel heard, I feel like there are other people out there who can understand and I want to hear from them first hand, instead of continuing to stumble around while trying to find support.

In one short sentence I can say that I am taking my mental health issues into my own hands by choosing to be proactive instead of waiting for someone to save me.

I truly believe that by connecting with other survivors we can learn from each other that although we might be suffering, we don’t necessarily have to suffer alone. This is really important to me because it’s the first ever Loud Mouth Brown Girl event, and it’s going to be a really cool way to interact with people that I’ve never interacted with before.

The two hour conversation *WILL* be recorded for later use on the podcast, and also so that we can present it to Doctors and mental health professionals and show them what patients are really saying behind the scenes, if you are interested in attending please follow the link below.
