Ugly Food Diaries Ugly Delicious Food For Fat Girls

So one of the things I *love* doing for myself is cooking. I absolutely believe that food is my love language. If I cook for you, it means to me you are family and that by giving you food, I am nourishing both your stomach and your heart.

At least, that is my intent. So, to that end, I made something this week, and I decided that I want to continue to share my food with the world. I don’t think of myself as a chef by any means, but I do like to cook, and sometimes it turns out well. I am starting a thing called “The Ugly Food Diaries: Ugly Delicious Food for Fat Girls.”

Why for fat girls? Because I BELIEVE WITH MY FULL CHEST, fat girls deserve to eat good food, whatever food they want, but food that brings them joy. But here’s the challenge behind the dishes: I am going to try to make things that are out of my comfort zone.

Like, for instance, I would very much like to learn how to make samosas.

And butter chicken from scratch, and Jerk Chicken because…who doesn’t want to know how to make that?

I also want to learn how to make cannabis dishes, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to do that where I live, due to the decarboxylation process.

But we’ll see, and we shall learn.

Together. I think that if I am going to be going to the gym, I need to focus on the eating portion of the staying healthy part of my journey.

Now, to be fair, I’ve been struggling with my eating since I was a child, and this is a direct result of my control issues that come from being abused so young. I’ve known this my entire life, but I think it’s something I really want to focus on getting the hang of.

Because I either don’t eat or I binge eat, and there’s very little in between. Neither is healthy, and while I don’t think I can rush into eating three square meals a day, I need to find some things I can have on hand when I need a quick and healthy snack.

I also want to make oatmeal bars from scratch because I hate the ones that come in the store, and I loathe the ones that are in the “healthy food section.” They all taste like cardboard ate cardboard and threw up.

I think healthy food can be delicious, but I don’t think that healthy food is easy to come by, especially as grocery prices rise across the country due to…*everything.*

I will say that I am eating better today than I have ever before, but it’s taken a concentrated effort to make that happen, as many of you can understand, I am sure.

So with all that being said, (I know I hate when people post recipes and then go on at nauseam about the story behind the food, I’m sorry…but that’s probably not going to change. ๐Ÿ˜‚) here is the first dish I’ve made for the Ugly Food Diaries:

Ingredients

  • Soy Sauce (Your favourite kind.)
  • Teriyaki Sauce
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Veggie Stock (Store-bought is fine, homemade would be amazing!)
  • Garlic (4-6 cloves)
  • Onion/Onion Powder
  • Pepper
  • Salt
  • Sugar to taste

I don’t have exact measurements because I don’t have those. I added everything as I went, but it turned out amazing.

Sauce:

Glaze the onion and garlic in 1-2 spoonfuls of sugar with butter.

Add Beef or veggies as desired and begin making your sauce.

4 tsp each of:

  • Soy Sauce (Your favourite kind.)
  • Oyster Sauce
  • Veggie Stock
  • Teriyaki Sauce

Mix with veggies/beef/chicken and enjoy once cooked.

You can make this recipe with any protein, but veggie or salmon is my favourite.

You can also change up the sauces for different flavour profiles, but this is my favourite collection together. Hope you enjoy.

XOXO
