If Your First Response Is “I Haven’t Posted In Awhile,” Then What’s Missing is You! You Are What Is Missing From Your Blog!

Every day that you post something on your blog, no matter what you are talking about, is a day when you are rebelling against people who tell you that your voice doesn’t matter. It’s an act of revolution.

Posting isn’t for everyone, some people like to write and never share with the world what they are thinking. This my friends is a crime against humanity. You are a singular special voice, and without that voice, the world is left unchanged, unfinished, and unperfected, because you (yes me) did not speak out. (No silly, I mean YOU!)

There are dozens of young men who were affected by what was done to us as children, who will never speak out, out of fear of shame, stigma, and hideous insults of “Why didn’t you fight back?” People think that gender, size, orientation, race, color, and creed, will protect us from being abused, but that’s just not the reality.

All abusers have a “type,” and there are abusers everywhere, but if we don’t speak out against what happened to us, then we’re allowing it to continue. No, you didn’t speak. out so YOU continue to be hurt too. YOU continue to be in pain, because you’re not letting it out, and you deserve to.

The Story of Nada Chehade, Devon J Hall, And The Girls of the World

That story is one of my favorites, because as I get ready to celebrate 5 years of Loud Mouth Brown Girl dot com, I get to look back at this essay about my friends, and see how far I have come.

I didn’t become the Loud Mouth Brown Girl overnight, I still don’t feel like I am her yet, entirely, but over time as I evolve I will become more and more like the ideals I want her to represent.

Strength, wisdom, power, respect, education, mental health, healing, journey, evolution, support, kindness, justice, friendship, and love.

Start with this, if you’re really struggling with what to say, think about what you want to say, and write that down. Then whittle it down until you have it “perfected” enough to share, and let me let you in on a little secret, it doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be yours.

Sending all my love,

Devon J Hall
