Would You Change The World If You Could?

I am watching Charmed, the original series, and it’s the episodes with the Avatars. Those who believe that they can eradicate darkness from the world. All it takes is a sleep spell that puts everyone to sleep and letting majick completely rewrite their brain.

In this Utopia there would be no pain or suffering, no more rapists or abusers, no more toxicity, would you do it? Would you say yes? Would you use majick to change the world, the consequences be damned?

I want to. I want to say that I would say yes to that, but I have this feeling in my gut that tells me that I wouldn’t. If only because we’re talking about majick rewriting the way the brain of every human on earth works. What right do we have to play God over another person’s life?

We were granted free will at birth, we were given the power to make choices – no one said those choices would always be great but at least we have them, you know? If we take that away…doesn’t that make us the most evil of all?

The question is a Kobayashi Maru test, it’s designed to teach you that there are no easy answers, no easy ways out of answering it. It’s a moral dilemma, if you could kill Baby Hitler would you? Or would you try raising him with a different ideology?

I know what I would do, if given the power to take from the world all of the hurt and the pain and the sorrow, I know what I would do if I were offered the chance to close Pandora’s box.

I also know the consequences of closing up that box also mean locking hope away from the world, and now that I finally found hope, why would I want to take it from others? I have my answers, but do you have yours?

Don’t you love when I leave you with more questions than answers?
