Uncomfortable was written in the earlier days of Loud Mouth Brown Girl when I was inspired to write for a week and a bit straight and not think about what it is that I was writing. This isn’t a book about my life, so much as it’s a book about the lessons I’ve learned based on what I’ve been through.

The stories in this book are more about how I see the world than who I am, and while some people may not understand the format or the reasons, it’s precisely what I needed to write, when I know I needed to make the dream of being an author a reality.

Lots of folks around the world deal with mental health issues. Many of them however don’t know that they’re allowed to see their healing time as a time of experimentation, study, and the gift of personal education.

As cliche as that is to say, I’ve spent the last 6 years using Loud Mouth Brown Girl to examine my views on the world, to really put what I thought I believed to be true, out there in the world, so that I could take a serious look at whether or not what I believed, was actually true or not.

I’ve learned a lot through the last six years, about my past, my present, and the possibilities of my future, and this book is a part of that journey.
